Job title: Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor, Primary Care
About the Role Full-time, non-tenure track clinical faculty member in UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine, based in Portland, ME. The role combines academic, curricular, clinical, and community service responsibilities within the Department, with opportunities to participate in administration and scholarly activity as interests evolve. The physician will work as part of a team of physicians and staff to deliver education, patient care, and community service across UNE.
What You'll Do
- Participate in instruction of medical students within the college through lectures and small group experiences covering basic osteopathic manipulative medicine, clinical skills, clinical decision-making, and general medical knowledge.
- Participate directly in instruction and development of clinical learning experiences in geriatrics for the four-year medical student curriculum.
- Precept medical students in the clinical setting and supervise students from other colleges or graduate programs.
- Participate in graduate medical education as it relates to the college.
- MatureCare responsibilities: provide direct medical care to MatureCare patients, oversee clinical care, provide medical direction in facility-based care, participate in on-call coverage, supervise/teach medical students and residents, ensure documentation, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and engage in community relations and scholarly activity; ensure OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Board Certified DO or MD in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Geriatrics.
- Comfort with performance and teaching basic Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (preferred).
- Curricular and teaching experience with learner supervision and evaluation (preferred).
- Clinical practice experience of at least 5 years (preferred).
- Experience/expertise in holistic long-term care medicine.
- Experience in bedside clinical teaching/precepting (preferred).
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Have or be eligible for Maine licensure to practice.
Nice to Have
- Experience with holistic long-term care medicine.
- Experience with post-acute/long-term care settings (MatureCare) or clinical leadership in facility-based care.
