About the Role The Assistant Women’s Track and Field Coach (Jumps) will play an integral role in supporting the operation of the women’s track and field program, focusing on recruitment, development, and retention within the Division III student-athlete philosophy. The primary coaching emphasis is on horizontal jumps, with responsibilities spanning practice design, athlete development, and program promotion. What You'll Do
- Assist in development, recruitment, and support of a highly competitive women’s track and field program, consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of Division III.
- Primary coach the horizontal jumps, organize standard practices, and develop individual athletes in those events.
- Design and implement event-specific programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all event areas with research-driven practices.
- Supervise student athletes. Work with other coaches to develop event-specific training plans.
- Collaborate with sports medicine/athletic training staff on rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
- Analyze film, design strategies, communicate with athletes, and write reports to support practice preparations.
- Collaborate on meet management, recruitment showcases, financial resource planning, transportation, equipment, and facility improvements.
- Develop and implement ongoing professional development related to track and field, wellness, nutrition, and conditioning.
- Participate in promotional activities for the program (Faculty Mentor Program, Parent’s Day activities, Alumni track and field meet and associated activities, fund-raisers during the academic year, summer camps, and other marketing and promotional activities).
- Coach diverse event groups, organize practices, and develop athletes; perform other administrative duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Specific knowledge of track and field coaching theories and techniques.
- Skill in communicating with college student-athletes, their parents and other coaching professionals; ability to recruit qualified student-athletes; ability to counsel prospective students and their parents regarding numerous aspects of the College.
- Strong commitment to a small college environment; extensive knowledge of the organization and operation of the College, especially regarding admission-related activities; up-to-date knowledge of developments in higher education.
- Ability to develop successful programs which engage student-athletes and coaches in developing student-athlete leaders.
- Ability to deal with several tasks and work with a large number of individuals concurrently, often without direct supervision; well organized, detail oriented, flexible and able to effectively prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing, in a manner consistent with professional standards, including direction of and participation in the development of high-quality publications which reflect positively on North Central College.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with persons both internal and external to the College.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team; commitment to an environment that nurtures inclusion, cooperation, teamwork, and diversity. Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Progressive coaching and/or competitive experience in the events or sport.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are preferred. Compensation & Benefits
