About the Role At AIG, we are reimagining the way we help customers manage risk. Join us as an Assistant Vice President, Excess Claims to contribute to that transformation and grow as a valued member of the team. What You'll Do

  • Handle some of the largest and most complex 3rd party property and casualty claims, including multimillion-dollar cases such as multi-vehicle auto accidents, plant explosions, and product liability claims.
  • Review coverage under Excess Commercial General Liability and auto policies and participate in investigation.
  • Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials, assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves; present large-value cases to senior management.
  • Communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants with excellent customer service; negotiate effectively to resolve claims.
  • Determine the scope and extent of available coverage; plan investigation strategies to identify critical issues affecting liability, causation, and damages.
  • Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy; obtain appropriate authority to independently negotiate multimillion-dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide.
  • Utilize ADR as appropriate; strategize and budget litigation with counsel, vendors, and insureds; establish clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to control budgets and expenses. What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
  • Advanced experience in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation.
  • Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
  • Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months.
  • Interest in the potential for an upwardly mobile career path. Nice to Have
  • JD helpful but not required. Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $175,000 - $225,000 for positions in New York, Jersey City, Boston, and Chicago.
  • Eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
