About the Role
The Assistant Unit Director leads nursing staff in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU), ensuring high-quality patient care and serving as a role model for professional nursing practice. This role supports administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources and may assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas or during the absence of the manager. The PCICU is an 18-bed tertiary and quaternary cardiac surgical ICU serving critically ill neonates through adults with congenital heart defects.
What You'll Do
- Supervise staff involved in providing clinical patient care in the PCICU.
- Assist in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery and serve as a role model for professional nursing practice.
- Assist with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
- May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.
What We're Looking For
- Three years of Pediatric or Adult Cardiac ICU RN clinical experience.
- Three years of progressive leadership experience in patient care services.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.
- Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
- Cross-training to the Pediatric Cardiac Transitional Care Unit as needed.
Nice to Have
- Two years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU RN leadership or supervisory experience.
- Masters Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
- CCRN.
- Leadership Certification.
