About this role
The Assistant Storekeeper is responsible for the inventory control of spare parts, supplies and the maintaining of storage locations in the Technical Departments.
What you will contribute
Technical
- Maintain the inventory of spare parts and consumables for the technical departments
- Create requisitions for re-ordering as necessary and submit them for approval
- Receive spare parts and supplies onboard from suppliers’ scheduled shipping containers into the inventory management system, and store them in the correct locations
- Issue PPE and uniforms as required for technical department crew members
- Periodic inventory of stock as directed by the Storekeeper
- Other duties as assigned
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
- Follow all safety measures as defined in the company Safety Management System
- Participate in regular drills and join emergency teams as required by the Safety Officer
- Report non-conformities, accidents involving personnel or vessel, and hazardous occurrences to the Company
Mission Support
- Share in the support and furtherance of the Christian community through lifestyle and exhortation
For This Role, You Will Need
STCW Certifications
- Certificate of Proficiency in accordance with STCW VI/1 Basic Training
- Certificate of Proficiency in accordance with STCW VI/6-1 Security Awareness
- Certificate of Examination in accordance with STCW I/9 Medical Fitness and Minimum In-Service Eyesight

Competent in Windows, Microsoft Office Programs
Experience in computer software used for inventory and control is preferred
- Experience with a company-planned maintenance system is preferred but not essential
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English in both written and verbal forms

- Mechanical aptitude and basic tool handling skills
- Strong sense of discipline, cleanliness, and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures precisely
- Good physical condition; capable of working in high-heat and enclosed spaces
- Team player with a positive attitude toward learning and development
Education and Experience
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships On boarding program for commitments of 12 months or longer
- Background in warehousing, inventory, and stock control required
- Strong preference for technical/mechanical inventory
- Background in project management is a plus
