About the Role

Hope College's Religion Department seeks a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Religion in Christian Theology. The ideal candidate will teach introductory courses in Christian systematic theology and ethics, as well as upper-level courses, and will maintain an active research program necessary for tenure; expertise in environmental theology or Christian ethics is desired and a Ph.D. is preferred (late-stage ABD considered).

What You'll Do

• Teach introductory courses in Christian systematic theology and ethics, plus an appropriate secondary field, as well as upper-level courses in religion.

• Maintain an active research program and contribute to tenure standards.

• Engage with Hope College's mission, including how Christian faith, the liberal arts, and inclusive excellence shape teaching, scholarship, and mentoring.

• Participate in department and college service and mentoring of students.

• What We're Looking For

• Ph.D. in a relevant field (preferred) or late-stage ABD considered.

• Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching and an active research program.

• Expertise in environmental theology or Christian ethics (desired).

• Commitment to the liberal arts mission and inclusive excellence of Hope College.

• Nice to Have

• Demonstrated potential for scholarly publications and strong teaching evaluations.
