Job title: Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

About the Role Presbyterian College invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health Professions and the Occupational Therapy Department. The position emphasizes teaching, curriculum design, student mentorship, and service related to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program, with opportunities to contribute to accreditation and program development.

What You'll Do

  • Teach a course load appropriate to the discipline and position; plan and organize instruction; implement contemporary teaching strategies; incorporate technology; and develop, update, and post course syllabi aligned with program objectives and core competencies.
  • Design and update instructional materials; ensure equipment and facilities are maintained; mentor and advise doctoral projects; assess and report student progress, identify at-risk students, and manage records and final grades each semester; and maintain regular office hours for advising.
  • Engage in program and college activities including recruitment, committee service, accreditation-related work, community partnerships, and representation at events.
  • Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives and curricular design; support program policies and procedures; and participate in continuous quality improvement of the OTD program.
  • Support advising, student development, and program-wide activities; collaborate with external programs and organizations; and participate in professional activities that align with departmental and college goals.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctoral Degree required in Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience to teach courses related to the conditions Occupational Therapy treats; the occupations engaged in across the lifespan; how physical and neurological conditions impact the adult client; and how to manage a business.
  • Experience designing curriculum and preparing students for the NBCOT exam.
  • Ability to learn and use technology to enhance teaching.
  • Strong commitment to student learning, ability to mentor and advise, and capability to work within program policies and accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and collaboration with colleagues and students.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing curriculum and NBCOT exam preparation.
  • Experience with distance education/telemedicine and interactive technology.
  • Involvement in accreditation processes and connections with community, medical, and other organizations to enhance the OTD program.
  • Willingness to participate in program development, committee work, and regional/national accreditation activities.
