About the Role The English Department seeks an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing–Poetry at UMass Boston to teach poetry and contribute to the department and MFA program leadership. The appointment begins September 1, 2027 at a diverse, urban university with an active MFA program and robust undergraduate and graduate programs in literature and writing. What You'll Do
- Teach poetry workshops, classes on poetry as literature, and the pedagogy of creative writing
- Participate in the regular rotation of tenured MFA faculty into the directorship of the MFA program
- Contribute to the department's literature offerings and support undergraduate and graduate writers from diverse backgrounds What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. or M.F.A. in hand by August 31, 2027
- Strong publication record, including at least one published volume of poetry
- Experience and commitment to teaching creative writing, literature, and the pedagogy of creative writing; ability to work with talented undergraduate and graduate writers of all ages and backgrounds
- Breadth of expertise and interests; willingness to contribute to the literature offerings of the department Nice to Have

- Salary range: approximately $80,000 to $97,099
