Assistant Professor, Nursing

Provides academic and practicum instruction within the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and conducts on-campus and online classroom and practicum experiences for students. Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to the Assistant Professor rank. Reports to the Associate Dean for Nursing Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Graduate Nursing Studies, and/or the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Studies.

Essential Job Functions
Teaching:
- Deliver, plan, organize, and manage assigned classroom, laboratory, and practicum instruction, ensuring alignment with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
- Maintain academic standards as established by the School of Nursing, College, and University.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to assigned students.
- Integrate evidence-based teaching strategies and emerging technologies into instruction and contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment curriculum, courses and student learning outcomes.
Research / Scholarship:
- Engage in scholarly activities consistent with expectations for the Assistant Professor rank.
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for the Assistant Professor rank through research, presentations, publications, and dissemination of evidence-based nursing practices.
- Integrate current research and best practices into teaching and professional activities.
- Pursue ongoing professional development (e.g., continuing education, workshops, conferences) to support scholarly growth.
Service:

Participate in School of Nursing, College, and University committees and governance activities.

Contribute to program operations, including reports, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintain active membership and participation in relevant professional organizations.

Serve as a resource for colleagues, students, and the broader community.

Support initiatives that advance the mission and goals of the School of Nursing and the University.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Nursing or doctorate in related field required.
- Educational experience in a nationally accredited nursing program. Experience in clinical nursing.
- Unencumbered RN license in Texas or eligibility for licensure.
Desired Qualifications:

Familiarity with online or hybrid educational models.

Requirements

Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.

Job Conditions: Work is primarily performed in a classroom, clinic, or instructional environment in climate-controlled conditions.
