La Salle University
On-site

About this role

Job title: Assistant or Associate Professor, Undergraduate Nursing and Director, Pathway to Practice (Non-Tenure Track)

About the Role La Salle University invites applications for a Director of the Pathway to Practice Program who will serve as a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track faculty member at a rank of Assistant or Associate. This position is dedicated to advancing student success and licensure readiness through an outcomes-driven model and was developed in response to outcome data highlighting the need for early intervention, longitudinal academic support, and stronger integration of didactic and clinical learning. The Director will provide proactive, structured academic coaching beginning in the sophomore year and continuing throughout the nursing program, with a focus on clinical judgment development, NCLEX-RN readiness, and successful transition to professional nursing practice. This is a 9-month faculty appointment accompanied by a 12-month secondary administrative appointment as Director. The faculty and Director roles are interdependent and must be held concurrently; continuation in each role is contingent upon service in the other. Rank (Assistant or Associate) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

What You'll Do

  • Provide early, longitudinal academic support to pre-licensure nursing students beginning in the sophomore year. Coach students in effective study strategies that emphasize application, synthesis, and clinical judgment, and help develop NCLEX-RN–aligned test-taking strategies and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Lead a structured NCLEX-RN outreach initiative starting with the 2026 graduating class to support timely licensure testing and encourage graduates to schedule NCLEX-RN examinations within six to eight weeks of graduation where appropriate; develop and implement a post-graduation NCLEX-RN preparation plan with guided resources and study timelines.
  • Provide proactive guidance to graduates who delay their initial NCLEX-RN attempt and coordinate targeted outreach to graduates not successful on their first attempt, offering individualized learning plans and coaching prior to re-testing; use licensure outcome data to refine outreach and improve pass rates.
  • Lead and coordinate a faculty development initiative to establish a cohort of five faculty members to support student success; facilitate professional development on clinical judgment pedagogy, NCLEX-style assessment design, academic coaching, and data interpretation; organize workshops and promote consistent advising practices across didactic and clinical courses.
  • Function as a core member of a coordinated student success team, ensuring consistent messaging on progression, licensure readiness, and professional accountability; participate in program evaluation, reporting, and accreditation-related initiatives as appropriate.
  • Teach in the BSN day and BSN achieve programs.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in nursing education and student success initiatives; ability to perform academic coaching and program development.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and translate into actionable interventions.
  • Knowledge of NCLEX-RN readiness strategies and licensure processes; strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equity, and working with diverse student populations.
  • Willingness to teach and contribute to program evaluation and accreditation initiatives as appropriate.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with clinical judgment pedagogy and NCLEX-style assessment design.
  • Familiarity with Elsevier Performance Learning Plans and other learner analytics tools.
  • Leadership experience in faculty development or program coordination.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical and dental plans, employer-paid life and disability insurance, retirement benefits, generous paid time off (vacation, sick leave, and holidays).
  • Tuition benefits including no-cost undergraduate and graduate degree programs for employees and no-cost undergraduate degree programs for dependents after required years of service.
