Job title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics

About the Role Oakwood University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to curriculum development and assessment, engage in scholarly activity, and participate in departmental, university, and community service, in alignment with Oakwood University’s mission as a historically Black, Seventh-day Adventist institution dedicated to Christian values and healthful living.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the Director for the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Teach assigned courses in nutrition and dietetics
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation activities
  • Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to rank, including research, publications, and/or professional presentations
  • Engage in service to the department, university, profession, and community
  • Support experiential learning, internships, and supervised practice preparation
  • Maintain professional credentials and adhere to institutional policies and ethical standards
  • Integrate faith, learning, and service consistent with the mission of Oakwood University
  • Participate in university activities such as faculty meetings, committees, and professional development

What We're Looking For

  • Earned doctorate in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field (preferred)
  • MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science from a regionally accredited institution
  • Prior experience as a DPD Director, Program Coordinator, or leadership role
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience with ACEND-accredited programs or dietetic internships
  • Grant writing, research collaboration, or community-based nutrition initiatives
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
  • Familiarity with the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy of health and education
