Job title: Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach
About the Role Thiel College seeks an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach who will assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and report to the Director of Athletics. The role focuses on developing student-athletes into leaders while supporting all aspects of the college’s men’s basketball program.
What You'll Do
- Teach/instruct student-athletes in their designated sport (primary duty of all coaches).
- Assist the Head Coach in game and practice preparations.
- Mentor and monitor the student-athlete's academic progress.
- Evaluate student-athletes academically and athletically.
- Assist in planning and implementing pre/post workout programs.
- Assist with fundraising activities.
- Assist with community service planning and implementation.
- Recruit, retain, and graduate quality student-athletes; serve as a gameday administrator.
- Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Division III, the Presidents Athletic Conference, and Thiel College.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Head Coach.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred; strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Nice to Have: Collegiate coaching and/or recruiting experience; ability to demonstrate strong organizational and relationship-building skills; valid driver’s license.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a part-time, 10-month position and includes housing, a cell phone stipend, and a meal plan.
