Assistant Manager - SQA

Job Purpose

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems and processes to ensure products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. This role supports manufacturing operations by analyzing quality data, leading root cause investigations, and driving corrective and preventive actions. The Quality Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, enhance process efficiency, and ensure compliance with standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. This position plays a key role in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and sustain quality management systems in compliance with industry standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Ensure documentation and procedures are up to date and effectively followed.
  • Investigate product and process non-conformances using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
  • Drive the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Participate in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities to ensure product and process readiness.
  • Collect and interpret quality metrics, including scrap rates, defect trends, and customer complaints.
  • Use statistical tools to identify improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Interface with customers to address concerns, manage quality documentation, and support audits or visits.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
  • 3+ years of experience

Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of automotive quality systems and tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards is essential for ensuring compliance and driving quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify root causes of quality issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel) is highly valued.
