Job title: Assistant Manager-Quality

the additional resource will provide dedicated quality supervision, improve process controls, and ensure consistent quality of raw materials, processing, and finished products across the plant operations.

The proposed Assistant Manager – Quality will be responsible for managing and overseeing quality operations at the New Plant, ensuring adherence to company standards and customer requirements.

With the expansion of operations, a dedicated quality resource is required to ensure effective coordination between production, quality, and other functional teams and to address quality-related issues on a timely basis

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Control

  • Establish and monitor quality standards for raw, semi‑processed, and finished Basmati rice.

  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, BRC, US FDA, FSSC22000, and Basmati export quality norms.

  • Play key role in Sedex and Smeta requirement in Basmati rice operation

  • Conduct regular sensory, chemical, and physical analysis of rice (grain length, whiteness, moisture, aroma, purity).

  • Oversee contaminant and adulteration testing to ensure 100% authentic Basmati.

  • Implement control points during parboiling, milling, grading, polishing, aging, and packaging.

    1. Supplier & Procurement Quality Management
  • Approve and audit paddy suppliers, farmers, and procurement agents.

  • Ensure procurement aligns with varietal purity standards (e.g., 1121, 1718, 1509, Traditional Basmati).

  • Implement farm‑level quality improvement programs.

    1. Processing Oversight
  • Monitor parboiling and drying processes to avoid breakage and color variation.

  • Oversee milling efficiency and grading accuracy.

  • Maintain optimal aging conditions to achieve desired texture and aroma.

  • Maintain documentation for internal audits, export audits, and regulatory inspections.

  • Ensure traceability from paddy to finished goods.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain documentation for internal audits, export audits, and regulatory inspections.

    1. Team Leadership
  • Manage and train a team of QA managers, QC officers, lab technicians, and samplers.

  • Drive continuous improvement and quality culture across the plant.

    1. Customer & Market Quality Feedback
  • Analyze consumer complaints and market feedback.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.

    1. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with procurement, operations, production, R&D, and packaging teams.

  • Support new product development (NPD) for value‑added Basmati products.

Experience

  • Technical knowledge of Basmati rice varieties, processing techniques, and quality parameters.
  • Strong analytical ability and experience with lab equipment.
  • Data‑driven decision-making and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of national and international food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • B. Tech in food technology or bachelor’s in science subjects with 5 to 10 years in food Industry
