About the Role Join CFAO South Africa’s Machinery team in Durban as Assistant Manager Projects & Agency. This role integrates equipment sales and service delivery to meet divisional targets, while building trusted relationships with customers and suppliers and solving problems with integrity and innovative thinking as part of the management team.

What You'll Do

  • Achieve divisional sales targets with no loss to gross profit and ensure projects, spares, and services are billed accurately and timeously
  • Create and develop new business opportunities with focus on annuity revenue streams
  • Conduct budget variance analysis and implement countermeasures; prepare sales forecasting and monthly profit forecasts
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and maintain close communication to enhance service delivery and satisfaction
  • Conduct regular customer visits (office and factory) to enable Genchi-Genbutsu and secure RFQs
  • Visit customer sites to assess project requirements and provide accurate quotations based on technical evaluations
  • Support the implementation of action plans to resolve customer complaints or concerns; manage complete project lifecycle including planning, contract administration, site management, and commercial closure
  • Perform on-site management including schedule, cost, and safety control; manage contractors (international and local)
  • Clarify and confirm specifications between suppliers and customers; acquire RFQs and offer consultation for projects and spare parts
  • Ensure quotations are submitted with acceptance within deadlines; prepare sales documentation including quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and debtor/creditor tracking
  • Manage the end-to-end supply chain process; coordinate logistics (import ~90%, export ~10%) and ensure timely shipping and project schedules
  • Communicate scheduling information clearly; provide foreign visitor support including scheduling and attendance; support international contractors as needed
  • Build strategic relationships with suppliers and customers to identify and develop new business opportunities; promote agency products (industrial robots, injection moulding equipment, pumps and pneumatic parts)
  • Propose process improvements for external and internal business processes; prepare bi-weekly reports on sales and customer activity

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering Qualification (Mechanical/Electrical) or currently studying; N6 Certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management and Sales Experience
  • Industry knowledge in both Automotive and Non-Automotive Sectors; basic understanding of machinery used across these industries
  • Computer literacy with intermediate MS Office; able to read technical drawings
  • Ability to quote for projects by visiting sites and conducting technical assessments; logistics management (Import/Export) knowledge; safety and OHS Act knowledge
  • Familiarity with technical terminology (Engineering & Construction)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical background to assess machinery requirements and equipment compatibility
  • Site-based quoting ability and capability to translate site observations into project proposals and cost estimates
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills; able to manage end-to-end project delivery

Nice to Have

  • Experience in managing international and local subcontractors; exposure to agency products including industrial robots and related equipment
