Job title: Assistant Manager – Production
About the Role The Assistant Manager – Production will plan and execute production to meet Supply Chain requirements with maximum efficiency and minimum cost, while ensuring compliance with EHS and QMS.
What You'll Do
- Plan and execute production activities to meet quality specifications based on planned manpower.
- Manage small to medium sized projects in a time-bound and safe manner.
- Ensure proper accounting of semi-finished, advanced intermediate and finished goods in ERP/AX9.
- Maintain minimum stock levels defined by Supply Chain; ensure proper accounting of RM/PM/IM and handover of finished goods to prevent pilferage and wastage.
- Enforce safe working practices; adhere to health, safety & environmental norms and use safety equipment.
- Ensure good housekeeping and logical material handling to improve efficiency and safety.
- Follow and implement ISO 9001 and 14001; implement 5S in Production area.
- Coach and guide own teams and contractors to achieve targets safely.
- Improve batch cycle time using Lean practices; optimize utilization of workmen.
- Possess strong knowledge of production equipment (mixers, dissolvers, packing machines, chiller, compressor) and powder/liquid formulation processes; familiar with HMI/SCADA.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in specialty chemicals, paint or construction chemicals industry.
- BE or BTech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; additional degree/diploma in material planning and Safety is an added advantage.
- Functional: Time Management; Inventory control management; Manpower management; Computer proficiency.
- Knowledge/Experience: Commitment to HSE, ISO 9001 & 14001; Knowledge of 5S; Knowledge of production process as well as utilities; powder and liquid blending through HMI and SCADA process automation.
- Behavioral: Training & development to subordinates; Prompt decision making; Strategic thinking; willing to accept change management; positive attitude to solve problems at shop floor level; good leadership & communications; quality of people development & team building; result orientation.
Nice to Have
- Additional degree or diploma in material planning and Safety is an added advantage.
