About the Role The Assistant Manager, External Reporting is responsible for statutory, tax and external reporting activities across Southeast Asia markets, with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. This role combines in-house work with oversight of external service providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with auditors and tax authorities. What You'll Do
- Be accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of statutory, tax and external reporting and compliance across Southeast Asia markets, with focus on Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, through a mix of in-house work and oversight of external service providers.
- Manage third-party external service providers (e.g., Capgemini and KPMG) for SEA and review relevant IER computations, filings and reports prepared by those providers.
- Lead and manage statutory audits and external reporting; serve as the key SEA contact when required.
- Lead and manage tax audits, including timelines, requirements, and deliverables with external service providers and tax authorities for Indonesia; be accountable for responding to IER related queries in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines through internal and external resources.
- Oversee compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including management of submissions and coordination with relevant authorities and external service providers.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Accounting and closing activities: perform and/or review tax accounting activities, including reconciliations, tax provisioning, and forecasting; support legal entity management activities, including maintenance and liquidation of legal entities.
- Review outputs prepared by external service providers and shared services teams supporting accounting and close activities as applicable.
- Oversee external service provider performance; drive continuous improvement across service providers.
- Partner with regional Finance, Controllership, External Reporting and Tax teams on statutory reporting, tax, and external reporting requirements; act as the primary local contact in Indonesia for external reporting matters; coordinate with auditors, tax authorities via service providers, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Present Disney business to tax authorities in the local language in in-person meetings, with support from the tax agent who communicates the company position to tax authorities.
- Support cross-market initiatives related to external reporting, regulatory compliance, and statutory processes. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Indonesia CPA license required.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in external reporting, statutory reporting, tax, or audit, preferably within a multinational or regional environment.
- Proven experience in an assistant managerial or supervisory capacity, including oversight of processes and deliverables across multiple markets.
- Experience in managing external service providers (e.g., tax firms, auditors, accounting providers) and working with shared services teams.
- Demonstrated experience in independently managing tax audits.
- Experience in managing compliance with regulatory requirements and liaison with relevant authorities.
- Strong understanding of statutory reporting and tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Skills: In-depth knowledge of statutory reporting, accounting standards, and tax compliance requirements; high accuracy and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple markets, priorities, and deadlines in a complex environment. Nice to Have
