About the Role Valiant Residential is seeking an Assistant Maintenance who assists the maintenance supervisor and helps maintain the property’s physical integrity while supporting leasing efforts. Emphasizes safety and policy compliance.
What You'll Do
- Complete resident service requests (target within 24 hours) and manage the system for handling requests.
- Schedule on-call rotations and assist with service as needed.
- Ensure safety materials are current; identify and correct unsafe conditions on-site.
- Maintain records of preventive maintenance, service requests, and make-ready status of vacant apartments.
- Schedule and perform minor and routine maintenance on equipment; inspect and maintain tools.
- Diagnose and perform minor repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, roofing, lighting, doors, locks, and related systems, and handle on-call duties.
- Participate in standby emergency schedules for evenings/weekends/holidays.
- Prepare property for inspections; perform additional duties as assigned by property manager or Regional Supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in apartment maintenance or a related trade requiring knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Technical Certification a plus.
- EPA (refrigerant, transition, and recovery) certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication in English; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Own a basic set of hand tools.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record and auto insurance.
- Ability to work at other locations and travel within major metro areas with possible overnight stays; ability to work some weekends.
- Physical requirements: sit/stand/climb, walk for long periods, climb stairs, lift up to 30 lbs.
Nice to Have
- Technical Certification is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
