Job Description

• The Assistant Maintenance Officer (Electrical) supports the Maintenance Manager/Chief Engineer in ensuring that all electrical systems, equipment, and facilities within the hotel or organization operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Electrical Maintenance:
• Carry out routine inspection, servicing, and maintenance of electrical installations and equipment.
• Assist in diagnosing and repairing electrical faults.
• Maintain lighting systems, sockets, switches, distribution boards, and electrical appliances.

Preventive Maintenance:

• Conduct regular checks to identify potential electrical problems before breakdown occurs.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment and systems.
• Replace faulty bulbs, switches, cables, breakers, and other electrical components when required.

Power Supply & Generators:

• Assist in monitoring the hotel's power supply and electrical distribution.
• Support the maintenance and safe operation of generators and changeover systems.
• Report abnormal power fluctuations, overloads, or electrical faults promptly.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure electrical work is carried out according to safety procedures.
• Identify and report electrical hazards such as exposed wires, overheating, sparks, and overloaded circuits.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Troubleshooting & Repairs:

• Respond promptly to electrical complaints from guests, staff, and departments.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs or escalate major faults to the appropriate technician or engineer.

Hotel Facilities Support:

• Assist with electrical maintenance in guest rooms, offices, kitchens, laundry areas, public areas, and other facilities.
• Support installation of new electrical equipment and fixtures.

Inspection & Reporting:

• Conduct routine electrical inspections and document identified faults.
• Maintain records of repairs, maintenance activities, and replacement of electrical components.
• Report completed and outstanding maintenance jobs to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.

Energy Management:

• Monitor electricity consumption and help identify areas of unnecessary energy usage.
• Assist in implementing measures to reduce electrical energy wastage.

Team Support:

• Work closely with plumbers, carpenters, HVAC technicians, and other maintenance personnel.
• Assist senior maintenance staff during major repairs, installations, and maintenance projects.

Emergency Response:

• Respond to electrical emergencies and power failures promptly.
• Assist in isolating faulty electrical circuits and making the area safe until proper repairs are completed.
