About the Role The School of Human Sciences at SIU Carbondale seeks an Assistant Lecturer to serve as the Dietetic Internship Director in the Human Nutrition & Dietetics Program. This is a full-time, 11-month non-tenure-track appointment with responsibilities split approximately 75% teaching and 25% administration of the Dietetic Internship Program, including year-round oversight and summer supervision to maintain ACEND accreditation standards.
What You'll Do
- Dietetic Internship Director (25%): ensure ACEND accreditation standards are met, oversee curriculum, policies, required competencies and program evaluation; provide year-round program oversight including summer supervision of interns; coordinate and evaluate supervised practice experiences across clinical, community, and food service settings; establish and maintain affiliation agreements with preceptors and sites; recruit, admit, advise, and evaluate interns; conduct ongoing program assessment and outcomes tracking; prepare and submit ACEND documentation; maintain program handbook, policies, and website; lead accreditation activities including site visits; manage program resources and budget; engage with advisory boards and community stakeholders.
- Instructor Responsibilities (75%): teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in nutrition and dietetics aligned with program needs; develop, update, and deliver course content reflecting current evidence-based practice; assess student learning outcomes and contribute to program assessment and accreditation efforts; advise and mentor students; participate in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives; engage in service at the program, school, college and/or university level; maintain professional credentials and ongoing professional development.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field; credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN); minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in dietetics; demonstrated experience in clinical, community, or food service nutrition; eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois (if applicable).
- Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; prior experience directing or coordinating a dietetic internship or supervised practice program; knowledge of ACEND accreditation standards and processes; teaching experience in higher education; experience with program assessment, accreditation, or outcomes tracking.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $6,000 per month (11-month appointment). Onsite work arrangement. Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience; internal equity considered.
