About the Role Yorkswood Primary School is seeking an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, Safeguarding & Culture to join the Senior Leadership Team. The role holds strategic responsibility for the school's pastoral and inclusion landscape, serves as the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead, champions Looked After Children, and leads behaviour and pastoral care to sustain a safe, positive culture throughout the school day. What You'll Do
- Hold strategic, macro-level responsibility for the entire pastoral and inclusion landscape
- Oversee the strategic direction of inclusion and serve as the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- Champion Looked After Children (LAC)
- Lead behaviour and pastoral care across the school, including developing lunchtime staff to sustain a culture of safety and positive behaviour throughout the day
- operate as part of the Senior Leadership Team with direct line management and appraisal responsibilities
- collaborate with Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, MAT Inclusion Lead, and MAT Safeguarding Lead to drive rapid improvement and community impact
- contribute to professional development and evidence-informed practice through the school's training and mentoring offerings What We're Looking For
- Experience as an experienced middle leader, specialist, or outstanding classroom practitioner who can lead safeguarding/inclusion at whole-school level (or be ready to develop into that role with funded training)
- ability to hold strategic direction for inclusion and safeguarding, with a focus on evidence-informed practice
- strong commitment to safeguarding, pastoral care, and improving outcomes for Looked After Children
- capacity to model professional development, work collaboratively within the SLT, and manage and develop staff
- alignment with the school’s mission to serve the community and drive rapid improvement Nice to Have
- Masters level study or willingness to pursue further professional growth
- demonstrated experience in delivering statutory safeguarding training and development Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £59,137 - £65,278 per year (FTE)
