Assistant Director of Marketing
Reporting to the head of External Operations for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA), the Assistant Director of Marketing will lead the marketing and game presentation efforts for Penn Athletics and assigned sports. Serving as the primary contact for women's basketball, this role will develop strategic marketing plans focused on revenue generation through ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities, driving attendance at athletic events, and enhancing the overall experience for students, fans and the greater Penn community.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary marketing and game presentation lead for 2-3 varsity sports, including women's basketball. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute strategic marketing and promotional plans. Create & distribute advertising content across multiple platforms. Identify and implement new and existing revenue generating opportunities for assigned sports, including but not limited to ticket sales and sponsorship. Collaborate with Penn Sports Properties to fulfill sponsorship needs related to pre-event marketing, gameday promotions and game presentation. Write scripts and manage videoboard inventory. Collaborate with creative services on graphic and video needs for assigned sports. Lead game presentation and in venue production efforts for all home games for assigned sport, developing an engaging atmosphere for all fans. Coordinate theme days, promotions and giveaway.
- Lead in the planning and execution of initiatives aimed at driving student engagement and attendance. Coordinate campus marketing efforts, plan and execute on campus activations, and build partnerships with student organizations.
- Establish and maintain key partnerships across campus. Collaborate with other divisions and organizations to drive initiatives, programs and activations that elevate student engagement and their experience with DRIA and at athletic events.
- Assist with managing the student worker program for the marketing department. Onboard and train work studies, interns and student DJs. Manage office hours and gameday coverage schedules. Communicate with others in the marketing department to assess upcoming coverage needs and notify students of new coverage needs. Assign meaningful tasks during office hours. Create and communicate gameday assignments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
