Job title: Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Creative Content
About the Role The Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Creative Content will serve as the lead media contact for Gannon Athletics. This position will strategically promote the success and commitment to excellence of Gannon Athletics student-athletes, teams, and the University externally and internally across multiple platforms, including social media and websites.
The role requires collaboration with the athletics department and university communications to elevate visibility and engagement across channels.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the lead media contact for Gannon Athletics, developing and disseminating content to external and internal audiences.
- Strategically promote athletics programs and student-athlete achievements across platforms (social media, websites, press materials).
- Collaborate with athletics staff, marketing, compliance, and external media to coordinate communications and creative content.
- Manage and produce digital content including press releases, game previews/recaps, feature stories, and multimedia assets.
- Monitor media coverage and report on reach and impact; respond to media inquiries.
- Assist with crisis communications and branding consistency.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in athletics communications or media relations; demonstrated ability to manage content across social platforms and digital channels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong editing and storytelling ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, staff, and media.
- Knowledge of NCAA communications and multimedia best practices is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with video production, graphic design, or digital storytelling.
- Familiarity with branding guidelines and content strategy.
- Knowledge of Gannon University and its athletics programs.
