Job Description
- Coordinating the development, review and implementation of county environmental compliance and enforcement policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
- Supervising the implementation of environmental compliance requirements by businesses, institutions, developers, industries and other regulated entities within the county.
- Coordinating environmental investigations and preparation of technical reports, inspection reports, evidence and documentation required for enforcement and legal proceedings.
- Liaising with relevant national government agencies, county departments, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders on environmental compliance, enforcement and regulatory matters.
- Coordinating public complaints and reports relating to environmental violations and ensuring timely investigation, response and resolution.
- Maintaining and overseeing environmental compliance records, databases and monitoring systems to support enforcement, reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
- Supervising staff responsible for environmental compliance, inspection, monitoring and enforcement functions within the department.
- Preparing and submitting periodic reports on environmental compliance, enforcement activities, violations, inspections and corrective actions undertaken within the county.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, natural resource management, urban planning, sustainability, public/business administration, development studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience within a county government or public sector institution, in environmental planning, sustainability management, environmental policy, or related areas.
- Completion of a strategic leadership development course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
