Job title: Assistant Dean of Student Conduct & Community Standards

About the Role The Assistant Dean of Student Conduct & Community Standards provides leadership for the University’s student conduct system, behavioral intervention efforts, and community standards enforcement while advancing a holistic, faith-informed approach to student development. The Assistant Dean ensures fair, developmentally appropriate conduct processes aligned with institutional values, applicable laws, and best practices in higher education, and serves as the University’s student conduct officer.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the University’s primary administrator for student conduct and community standards, ensuring fair, timely, and consistent resolution of non-academic misconduct, including intake, investigation, hearings, sanctions, appeals, and record management.
  • Train and guide judicial council members; chair or designate leadership for complex, high-risk, or sensitive hearings; act as student grievance officer for non-academic concerns; review and update the Student Handbook; maintain confidential student records per privacy standards.
  • Collaborate with University Police, Counseling Services, CARE Team, and other partners to assess risk and implement interventions; participate in campus crisis response and post-incident follow-up as needed.
  • Provide leadership oversight for Student Engagement initiatives, supervise staff overseeing student activities and organizations, advise the Student Government Association, and plan new student orientation.
  • Supervise directors/assistant directors, manage budgets, collaborate with Academic Affairs to integrate faith and learning, coordinate with Marketing and Communications on publications and web content, and assist the Vice President with strategic planning and assessment.
  • Be on-call for student emergencies (evenings/weekends) and adhere to university policies; perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education; demonstrated experience administering student conduct processes, managing sensitive cases, and exercising sound judgment under pressure.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of contemporary student conduct theory and restorative/educational disciplinary practices; experience with threat assessment or behavioral intervention teams; strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and counseling skills; ability to interpret and apply institutional policy with fairness, consistency, and discretion; commitment to faith-based student development; ability to supervise staff, manage budgets, and lead collaboratively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in crisis planning/response and post-incident support; effective collaboration with Academic Affairs, Marketing, and Communications on communications and web content for Student Life; strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
