About the Role The Assistant Dean for Advancement for the School of Law leads development efforts to secure major gifts and philanthropic support for the School of Law. The role manages a major gifts portfolio, oversees a team focused on annual giving, alumni relations, and communications, and collaborates with university-wide advancement efforts. The position builds relationships with donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends of the Law School and ensures effective communication with all stakeholders. What You'll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive advancement program for the School of Law.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects ($25,000+).
- Build relationships with donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends of the Law School to secure major gifts and other philanthropic support.
- Collaborate with central advancement teams to align Law School priorities with university-wide efforts.
- Lead a team that includes annual giving, alumni relations, and communications/marketing.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders across the School and university. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.) preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated success in managing a major gifts portfolio and closing gifts at the $25,000+ level.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and build meaningful relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Proficiency with advancement databases (Slate or similar preferred).
