About the role
Provides senior supervision of laboratory operations, supporting service leadership, supervising testing and staff, and upholding quality and biosafety.
Responsibilities

Provide senior supervision of laboratory operations, supporting the deputy/head in leading the service.

Supervise laboratory testing and section work, ensuring standards and throughput.

Support rostering, workload allocation and skill-mix.

Support biosafety compliance, audit and quality assurance.

Supervise, support and appraise junior laboratory staff.

Required skills
-
Strong knowledge of laboratory practice across disciplines and of quality management.

Ability to supervise rostering, section supervision and skill-mix.

Ability to support biosafety, quality assurance and external quality assurance. Incident escalation and equipment/vendor liaison skills.

Staff supervision and appraisal skills.

Nice to have
-
Specialty training or certification relevant to the laboratory discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of post-registration experience in the relevant profession, including experience at Principal grade or equivalent.
Education
-
Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognised institution.
