The role is accountable for ensuring physical assets remain compliant, maintainable, available, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle. The successful candidate will establish and continuously improve the organisation's Asset Management System, driving alignment with the principles of the ISO 55000 Asset Management framework while supporting the growth of a world-class research and innovation campus.
This asset management role focuses on asset strategy, reliability, maintenance governance, regulatory compliance, and asset assurance. It is not a property management, facilities operations, or operational management position.

- Drive the transition from reactive and preventative maintenance towards predictive and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
- Introduce asset health monitoring, condition monitoring, reliability analysis, and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Develop maintenance strategies based on risk, criticality, reliability, and operational impact.
- Utilise asset performance data, maintenance trends, and failure analysis to improve asset reliability and availability.

- Reduce unplanned downtime and optimise asset lifecycle performance through proactive interventions.
Team & Supplier Management
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing Asset Management team.
- Establish clear governance, performance standards, and accountability frameworks.
- Manage specialist contractors, consultants, maintenance providers, and equipment vendors.
- Drive supplier performance through defined service levels, KPIs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build organisational capability in asset management, reliability engineering, and compliance assurance.
Risk, Safety & Assurance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate asset-related risks across the estate.
- Manage risks associated with asset obsolescence, single-point failures, critical spares, supply chain resilience, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure business continuity considerations are incorporated into asset strategies and maintenance plans.
- Develop risk-based prioritisation models for maintenance and capital investment programmes.
