Assessor M.05 Signaling/ERTMS

• Takes over assigned work packages and performs tasks as directed.
• Participates in the preparation of service offers for assessment and certification of control and safety technology and signalling technology with a focus on European Train Control Systems (ETCS) or Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) Systems, as well as the functional safety of subsystems of local public transport or railways.
• Applies assessment specifications (standards or self-developed specifications) Prepares the project assessment plan and requirements.
• Prepares checklists, inspection reports, technical notes, etc.
• Prepares expert opinions on safety aspects of rail control and signalling systems, subsystems and components.
• Supervises subcontracted activities (quality, time and budget).
• Performs project management activities (contract-, claim- and change- management; time and budget, project status follow up, project internal reporting and controlling).
• Acts impartial and non-discriminatory in accordance with the requirements of the CAB.
• May support Auditors or Lead Auditors by acting as a technical expert.
• Performs ongoing self-study to make themselves acquainted with new/ updated standards and legislation in their area of expertise.
• Checks the correct use of accreditation marks in offers, reports and certificates.

Work Experience

• Degree in Information Technology, Traffic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
• Knowledge of railway-specific guidelines, regulations and relevant standards
• Knowledge in the areas of assessment and certification in the legally regulated sector (EU, 4. railway package, technical specifications for interoperability) and unregulated sector (public transport)
• Knowledge and experience in the field European Train Control Systems (ETCS) and / or Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) Systems
• Knowledge of the tasks and work areas of an inspection organisation, such as a Notified Body or Designated Body or Safety Assessor
• Knowledge and experience in the project business and in the management and control of projects
• Interest in international projects and inclination in quality and safety management for railway technology - willingness to travel (also internationally)
• Fluent in English and German (B2 Upper intermediate)
• At least 1-3 years of professional experience in related area
