About the Role Paramount's CBS News 24/7 is seeking a San Francisco-based freelance AR/VR ELC Director to lead real-time virtual production in an active breaking news environment. The ideal candidate will direct dynamic visual newscasts in a virtual space, verbally calling the shots as the anchor works the virtual studio and triggering AR elements to enhance storytelling. This role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to pivot from coded newscasts to breaking news as moments unfold. What You'll Do
- Provide leadership in and out of the control room to fulfill production needs in the ELC automated control room.
- Collaborate with the 24/7 editorial and production teams to execute an error-free production in a live/24/7 environment.
- Direct assigned newscasts, manage the virtual studio, call the shots, and trigger AR/VR elements in coordination with the jib camera and gear (Zero Density Virtual Production, Sony ELC Automation, Sony XVS Switchers, Chyron Prime/ISQ, Calrec Audio, Studio Jibs). What We're Looking For
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities; able to work with show producers in a fast-paced environment.
- Current experience directing in active breaking news environments.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to pivot from coded newscasts to breaking news when moments happen.
- Experience with AR/VR and virtual production environments (ELC) is a plus. Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Zero Density Virtual Production, Sony ELC Automation, Sony XVS Switchers, Chyron Prime/ISQ, Calrec Audio, and Studio Jibs.
