About this role
Area Manager is responsible for directing the activities of assigned manufacturing areas and ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective production. This role may oversee multiple shifts or departments and delegates production responsibilities to supervisors and leads, while meeting safety, quality, and productivity targets.
Manage the activities of assigned manufacturing areas and follow established procedures and approved processes. Ensure safe manufacture of products and maintain a safe, injury-free work environment; ensure compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies; train employees on safety procedures; maintain good housekeeping. Foster effective employee relations; coach and develop staff; resolve workplace issues through problem resolution; conduct formal performance appraisals; recommend pay increases, transfers, promotions, discipline and terminations in accordance with company policies. Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions. Plan, organize and supervise operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements, in the most cost-effective manner; monitor throughput and earned hours; strive to meet or exceed budget criteria. Manage performance measures and provide feedback; support continuous improvement using lean, TOC, interference management and NEI concepts; apply PCC budgeting, planning, and manufacturing processes. May manage production functions by delegation to Production Supervisors and/or shift/department leads and handle broader span of control as needed.
Strong manufacturing leadership with demonstrated knowledge of PCC budgeting, planning, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency with lean, TOC, interference management, and NEI methodologies; ability to apply these in area of responsibility. Ability to manage more complex processes, procedures, and functions; comfort with overseeing multiple shifts/departments. Commitment to safety, training, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance; experience in coaching, development, and employee relations; performance management including appraisals, promotions, discipline and terminations.
