About the Role The American Cancer Society seeks an Area Development Support Specialist to provide comprehensive support to a multi-million-dollar area and a large portfolio of events. You will be a key member of the area development team, enabling revenue success through strong internal and external relationships, efficient revenue-support tasks, and flawless event execution.
What You'll Do
- In partnership with event managers, ensure best in class event execution and the achievement of aggressive revenue targets.
- Manage relationships with event participants, volunteers, partners, sponsors and vendors, with a focus on high quality execution and stewardship.
- Oversee assigned event projects including, but not limited to, event online presence/website, event communications, look book, auction, event collateral, and inventory management.
- Manage financial tasks including processing donations, managing payment processes, and tracking expenses in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Provide multi-faceted support for the area leadership team and volunteer leadership including the area boards, event leadership committees, and executive volunteer engagement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the use of internal platforms and data systems to achieve business objectives – financial, event & constituent management, reporting, legal, procurement, contract management, communications, promotion/brand, auction management.
- Assist with event volunteer management – recruitment, training, scheduling, day of event, communications, recognition, stewardship.
- Provide general office and business operation support.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree preferred or a combination of education and work experience.
- 3 years of event support or operations support experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ability to proactively identify needs & issues and implement solutions; building strong internal partnerships and collaboration; external relationship management and customer service; navigating complex company dynamics; self-accountability; self-direction; quick development of system expertise (Salesforce, PowerBI, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams); strong multi-mode communications; ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines; interpretation of policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- The starting rate is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. Final offer based on experience/skills. Actual starting pay will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
