Job title: Area Development Specialist
About the Role The Area Development Specialist provides comprehensive support to a multi-million-dollar geographic area and its multi-event portfolio, helping to drive revenue and ensure operational excellence. As a key member of the area development team, you will manage internal and external relationships and execute event programs to support the area's revenue plan.
What You'll Do
- In partnership with event managers, ensure best-in-class event execution and achievement of aggressive revenue targets.
- Manage relationships with event participants, volunteers, partners, sponsors and vendors, focusing on high-quality execution and stewardship.
- Oversee assigned event projects including event online presence/website, event communications, look book, auction, event collateral, and inventory management.
- Manage financial tasks including processing donations, managing payment processes, and tracking expenses in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Provide multi-faceted support for the area leadership team and volunteer leadership including area boards, event leadership committees, and executive volunteer engagement.
- Serve as subject matter expert in the use of internal platforms and data systems to achieve business objectives – financial, event & constituent management, reporting, legal, procurement, contract management, communications, promotion/brand, auction management.
- Assist with event volunteer management – recruitment, training, scheduling, day of event, communications, recognition, stewardship.
- Provide general office and business operation support.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience; minimum 3 years of event support or operations support experience.
- Strong ability to proactively identify needs & issues and implement solutions.
- Skilled at building internal partnerships and collaborating to achieve shared objectives; strong external relationship and customer service orientation.
- Ability to navigate complex company dynamics and engage the right stakeholders to remove barriers.
- Self-accountable, self-directed, and able to work independently with initiative.
- Quick to develop expertise in systems (Salesforce, PowerBI, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams).
- Effective multi-mode communications tailored to audiences and activities.
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills to deliver high-quality results.
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- The starting rate is $25 to $30/hour. Final starting pay will be based on relevant experience/skills and other non-discriminatory factors including location, experience, skills, and education.
