About the Role Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp is seeking a candidate to fulfill a dual role combining architectural design and leading the sustainability strategy for projects. The role will involve leading the design of unique federal facilities around the world, coordinating with each discipline to incorporate sustainability into design documents, and overseeing the sustainability documentation and certification process.
What You'll Do
- Lead production teams; coordinate multiple discipline activity; serve as the responsible charge for a project.
- Establish and maintain effective client relationships and provide services that exceed client expectations.
- Prepare specifications and oversee sustainability design documents and documentation packages for client or third-party certification; integrate sustainability strategies across design disciplines.
- Educate Design/Construction teams and clients on LEED and other certification processes.
- Coordinate submittal reviews, hold regular meetings with construction staff, and finalize QC and documentation of construction activities.
- Be knowledgeable about Third-Party Certification platforms and UFC-01-200-02 High Performance and Sustainable Buildings requirements.
- Lead or participate in charrette processes to fully understand project requirements.
- Develop or lead presentation materials; communicate with all disciplines.
- Provide sustainable design solutions and support sustainability in the work environment; anticipate innovations in digital and technology applications.
- Assist in marketing and business development for existing and new federal clients.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with project requirements and building codes; understand budget, schedule, and quality constraints.
What We're Looking For
- U.S. Citizenship; willingness to work on U.S. Government projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from NAAB-accredited program; typically 5+ years related experience.
- Professional architectural registration; LEED AP BD+C or equivalent is preferred.
- Excellent design, visualization, graphic, oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Revit; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and supervise staff; strong problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Federal Government projects including UFC and UFGS specifications.
Nice to Have
- Architectural registration and LEED AP BD+C or equivalent certifications.
- Experience with U.S. Government agency projects and understanding of UFC/UFGS.
