About the Role

Elmhurst YMCA is hiring a full-time Aquatics Program Manager to coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs, including planning, promoting, creating, and coordinating programs. This role also maintains records, schedules staff, ensures proper pool maintenance, and partners with public agencies and community organizations to meet program needs. The Aquatics Manager leads recruiting, training, and supervising YMCA team members including lifeguards, instructors, and coordinators.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and supervise daily aquatic program operations, planning and promoting programs
  • Schedule and supervise staff, maintain records, and ensure pool maintenance
  • Recruit, train, and supervise YMCA team members (lifeguards, instructors, counselors, volunteers, and more)
  • Network with public agencies and community organizations to meet program needs
  • Lead in-service trainings and support a safe, inclusive environment for participants
  • Collaborate with leadership to grow programs and ensure high-quality, age-appropriate programming

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years recreation/aquatics experience; prior supervisory/leadership experience
  • Current aquatics certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) and ability to pass water skills test
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; excellent customer service and ability to relate to youth, parents, and volunteers
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple priorities; effective collaboration with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse groups
  • Commitment to child safety and completing required training (e.g., child abuse prevention) and policies

Nice to Have

  • Experience networking with public agencies and community organizations to promote programs
  • Additional certifications (lifeguard, swim instructor, CPR for Professional Rescuer) and willingness to expand

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary starts at $43,888 per year (annually); salary range presented as $43,888–$45,000 per year
