About this role

About the Role BC Hydro offers a variety of apprenticeship, technologist trainee and engineer-in-training opportunities to provide students and recent graduates with the training and hands-on experience needed to be successful in their chosen field. Programs include Apprenticeships, Pre-Apprentice PLT, Engineers-in-Training, Co-op Educational Learning, and Tour Guides at Visitor Centres across the province. These roles offer paid, hands-on learning with classroom components and allow exposure to different areas of the energy sector.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in paid apprenticeship programs with on-the-job and classroom training.
  • Explore the power line technician trade through a one-year Pre-Apprentice PLT opportunity.
  • Gain valuable work experience as Engineering graduates through Engineers-in-Training programs toward the Professional Engineering Designation.
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering through Co-op Educational Learning.
  • Educate visitors about hydroelectricity, electrical safety, and energy conservation as a Tour Guide at one of BC Hydro's Visitor Centres.
  • Contribute to projects across different areas in British Columbia as part of a multi-program offering.

What We're Looking For

  • Students or recent graduates seeking hands-on learning in electrical, mechanical, civil engineering, or related fields.
  • Interest in pursuing apprenticeships, technologist traineeships, or engineers-in-training opportunities.
  • Strong interest in energy, utilities, and safety culture; ability to work in team settings and across different departments.
  • Adaptability to participate in both on-the-job and classroom training and potentially dispersed roles across the province.
