About the Role Silvus is seeking an Applications Engineer-I to work with the Sales Engineering team on applications/solutions engineering and customer support. The role involves defining and testing new products, performing technical analysis, and engineering complete solutions for complex problems. This position requires travel up to 25% and is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week). What You'll Do
- Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
- Define new products and features, conduct field trials, and evaluate products for new features and accessories.
- Provide customer and sales team support through troubleshooting, system integration, and technical analysis (phone, online, in person).
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical escalations (voluntary or scheduled).
- Collaborate with Engineering teams and field testing/validation.
- Test and harden features via firmware/hardware changes in real-world applications.
- Support Sales Engineering for demos, training, testing, and reproducing field issues.
- Create and maintain customer-facing documents (manuals, guides, videos, app notes).
- Oversee RMA and Loaner processes with guidance on equipment recommendations.
- Travel up to 25% for customer demos, troubleshooting, and training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
- Proficiency with RF/test equipment (spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators).
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
- Willingness to travel; U.S. Person due to clients under U.S. federal contracts; background check and drug test will be required.
- Willingness to support customers at sites. Nice to Have
- Proficiency with TCP/IP networking.
- Experience with IP radios/modems.
- Knowledge of wireless systems, RF propagation, digital comms.
- Experience with testing embedded radio systems.
- Linux familiarity.
