Job title: Applications Engineer for Aerospace, Defense, Government and High-Voltage

About the Role The Applications Engineer will support Wolfspeed’s Aerospace, Defense, Government and High-Voltage (ADG&HV) business, providing pre- and post-sales technical support and leading reference designs using SiC power modules for targeted applications such as aerospace, pulsed power, medium-Voltage drives, and more.

What You'll Do

  • Assist customer design engineers to successfully incorporate Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide power modules and discrete/die in their products.
  • Provide remote and on-site customer support and answer technical inquiries with documentation and timely feedback.
  • Deliver pre- and post-sales technical support for Wolfspeed direct sales and distributors via customer presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Lead the design, development, and documentation of reference and demonstration platforms for SiC power product target applications.
  • Develop and present materials at technical seminars, tradeshows and distributor trainings.
  • Support new product launches, including training for Wolfspeed sales engineers and regional channel partners.
  • Develop dynamic characterization platforms, design/validate gate driver platforms, and create Spice and PLECS models.
  • Provide consolidated customer requirements to marketing and product managers to define new products and product enhancements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for power systems and world-class technical support.
  • Understanding of power circuit topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC).
  • Experience in EMI/EMC mitigation in switching power supplies.
  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, with placement strategies for high switching speed and high-power applications.
  • Experience in developing thermal management approaches for power electronics.
  • Experience in simulation tools (SPICE, PLECS, etc.) for power conversion.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • Prior experience in SiC high-power applications (>10 kW).
  • Experience in high-frequency magnetic design (>200 kHz–500 kHz).
  • Experience working with Aerospace and Defense customers.
