Our client is building a modern, high-impact internal IT function and is looking for an experienced Application Developer, Core Applications (Infor) to support and enhance the ERP systems that underpin its manufacturing, distribution, finance, customer service, and other business operations. The role focuses primarily on the on-premises Infor SyteLine 9 ERP platform and Microsoft SQL Server, combining application development, technical analysis, troubleshooting, and hands-on SQL development.
The Application Developer works closely with business stakeholders and the Core Applications team to translate business requirements into secure, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions. The role also partners with Data Engineering and Database Administration teams to support data integrity, integrations, query performance, database standards, and controlled production deployments.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in application development, ERP support, database development, systems analysis, or a related technical role.
- Hands-on experience supporting and developing solutions for Infor SyteLine 9 or SyteLine 10 in a production environment.
- Advanced Microsoft SQL Server and SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, views, stored procedures, functions, transactions, and error handling.
- Experience troubleshooting query performance, execution plans, blocking, deadlocks, and data-integrity issues.
- Experience with ERP integrations, customizations, reporting, background processing, and production support.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes and the ERP data supporting these functions.
- Experience with software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, technical documentation, and change management.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Infor SyteLine 9 customizations, reports, interfaces, background processes, and related application components.
- Support SyteLine forms, IDOs, Application Event System, stored procedures, TaskMan processes, and other supported extension points.
- Investigate application incidents across the user interface, business logic, integrations, background processing, and SQL Server layers to identify root causes and restore service.
- Support ERP processes across manufacturing, planning, inventory, order management, shipping, purchasing, finance, and customer service.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external implementation partners on enhancements, defect resolution, upgrades, and new capabilities.
- Monitor application health and recurring incidents and recommend improvements to application stability, performance, and supportability.
- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures, functions, and controlled data scripts supporting SyteLine and related applications.
- Translate approved business and functional requirements into secure, maintainable database and application solutions.
- Troubleshoot SQL errors, data inconsistencies, blocking, deadlocks, long-running processes, and query performance issues.
- Analyze execution plans and query behavior and implement appropriate performance improvements in collaboration with the Database Administrator.
- Develop validation queries, transaction controls, error handling, logging, and rollback procedures for data changes.
- Conduct peer reviews and maintain source-controlled documentation for SQL code and application changes.
- Support Data Engineering with source-system analysis, field mapping, data extracts, transformations, reconciliation, and data-quality investigations.
- Provide SyteLine data-model knowledge and business context for integrations, reporting, analytics, and migration initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Database Administrator on database design, indexing, security, performance tuning, deployment planning, maintenance, and recovery requirements.
- Diagnose issues spanning application, integration, and database layers and coordinate resolution across responsible teams.
- Support data conversion, validation, and migration activities related to transition from SyteLine to Infor LN.
- Partner with business users to understand workflows, operational challenges, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Provide timely application support and communicate clearly with stakeholders during incidents and service-impacting issues.
- Translate technical findings into practical explanations for business users, support teams, and leadership.
- Develop and maintain solution designs, support procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
- Train users and support personnel on new functionality, process changes, and appropriate system usage.
- Follow established standards for requirements analysis, solution design, development, peer review, testing, user acceptance, deployment, validation, and rollback.
- Develop and test changes in appropriate non-production environments before production implementation.
- Prepare complete change records covering business justification, testing evidence, implementation steps, validation criteria, risk assessment, and rollback procedures.
- Participate in technical reviews with Core Applications, Data Engineering, Database Administration, Infrastructure, Security, and other relevant teams.
- Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes and perform root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact issues.
- Maintain traceability from business requirements through solution design, development, testing, deployment, validation, and ongoing support.
