Job title: Application Specialist, Bioprocessing
About the Role The Application Specialist (AS), Bioprocessing provides applications support, technique training, and troubleshooting for bioprocessing equipment in the North American market. As a subject matter expert in upstream bioprocessing, you’ll guide customers and internal teams, translating complex needs into scalable bioprocessing solutions. You’ll support the sales cycle with technical design, configuration, and on-site demonstrations.
What You'll Do
- Act as trusted technical advisor in bioreactor systems and process control strategies including PID control and upstream process optimization.
- Deliver technical training for biotech and academic laboratories.
- Support customer adoption and long-term success with implemented systems.
- Develop customized hardware and software configurations aligned with customer protocols and process requirements.
- Troubleshoot bioreactors, automation platforms, and control systems.
- Collaborate with the regional Territory Manager to understand requirements during quoting and configure quotes to match the application.
- Provide feedback to factory about product issues and feature requests.
- Guide customers during onsite demos and equipment configuration.
- Provide training as an instructor on Bioprocessing products.
- Work with customer service to manage spare parts and consumables reserves.
- Maintain schedule of demo equipment and events; represent the company at tradeshows.
- Perform onsite/virtual installations, training, and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing processes.
- Advise customers on optimizing protocols and scale-up strategies.
- Provide feedback to R&D and participate in beta testing; stay updated on competitor technology.
- Collaborate with customers to develop application notes, case studies and white papers.
What we're looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biotechnology or related Biochemical/Chemical Engineering field.
- 5+ years’ experience in Bioprocess technology or lab-based position using these products.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Broad knowledge of mammalian and microbial cultivation techniques.
- Knowledge of cell culture and fermentation reactor design across bench, pilot and production scales.
- Scale-up strategies and technology transfer; ensuring process consistency.
- Deep knowledge in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, or biochemistry.
- Hands-on experience with bioreactors, control systems, sensor technology and single-use technologies.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $97,500-$122,000 annual, plus 10% bonus target.
- Hybrid work arrangement; location: Boston, MA.
