About the Role Copeland is seeking an Application Engineer Refrigeration to support HVACR customers across Africa and MEA. You will provide technical guidance, assist with product selection software, and drive application improvements, training, and warranty analysis to ensure optimal system performance.
What You'll Do
- Provide rapid responses to technical queries from customers and work with distributors, contractors, and OEMs to deliver suitable solutions.
- Assist customers in using product selection software and heat load calculation tools.
- Advise on refrigerant line components, electrical switchgear selection, and refrigerant line sizing; maintain technical library and help create catalogs, bulletins, user manuals; develop cross-reference documents vs competition; coordinate alternate refrigerant engagement with customers; explore new regional applications; support semi-hermetic compressor to scroll transition.
- Lead NBO for refrigeration products in MEA with Sales.
- Develop and manage a training calendar; deliver hands-on training on controllers and protections used in condensing units and compressors; coordinate tools and resources for the training center.
- Manage warranty claims; troubleshoot field and production issues; conduct root cause analysis via data logging, field visits, and compressor teardown; coordinate with manufacturing plants; analyze warranty data for continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- 8-10 years of experience in HVACR design, projects, service, technical support, or training within the HVACR industry.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, Refrigeration Systems and controls; technical troubleshooting; collaboration and communication skills; competent in Microsoft Office and technical software tools.
- Willingness to travel across Africa; ability to work outside typical office environments; commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
