Job title: Antenna/RF Design Engineer
About the Role PlayStation RF hardware design role focusing on antenna, RF circuits, and noise mitigation for PlayStation products. You will contribute to wireless design using your techniques to deliver unprecedented entertainment experiences for customers.
What You'll Do
- Antenna design, evaluation, and mass production implementation for PlayStation products.
- Design using electromagnetic field simulation and validate with prototype measurements using tools such as electromagnetic field simulators, RF anechoic chamber systems, network analyzers, and Bluetest.
- RF circuit design, evaluation, and mass production introduction.
- On-board circuit design and evaluation, and wireless device performance evaluation tools: wireless testers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers.
- Design and implement noise countermeasures affecting wireless communications; exploit electromagnetic measurement instruments and shielded rooms.
- Prepare test setups, test plans, and documentation for international/regional regulatory certifications; conduct tests accordingly.
- Be involved from the design stage of new models to incorporate your own tech and ideas; parallel product development and patenting encouraged.
- Collaborate within the PlayStation product design department focusing on wireless design; communicate with other teams as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Must: antenna technology knowledge/design/evaluation (2+ years); RF technology knowledge; experience handling RF measurement equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
- English: ability to understand English technical specifications and communicate; Japanese business level (N1 or equivalent).
- Desired: willingness to engage in wireless circuit design; experience with electromagnetic field simulation software; knowledge/evaluation of communication protocols; Linux use; programming in C or Python.
- Personal: interest in latest technologies, ability to communicate across hardware/electrical, mechanical, and wireless device teams, and explain technical content clearly to build trust; onsite work culture.
Nice to Have
- Wireless circuit design experience.
- EM field simulation software design experience.
- Knowledge of communication protocols with testing and evaluation.
- Linux usage and programming experience (C, Python).
