Job title: Animal Technician
About the Role The Animal Technician (AT) works under the direction of the Animal Resources Supervisor or assigned lead at the Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC). They provide daily care for laboratory animals and support research activities by performing essential duties, including animal husbandry and basic technical procedures, while identifying and reporting problems promptly.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily care of laboratory animals, including changing cages and racks, and delivering food and water per established procedures.
- Maintain equipment and animal housing areas to meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with technical procedures required within LARC or to support the research effort.
- Identify problems, remedy and report them immediately to supervision.
- Ensure proper care and use of animals and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
What We're Looking For
- Experience and training in laboratory animal care and husbandry.
- Ability to perform duties within the scope of the Assistant Animal Technician role.
- Capability to perform some technical procedures and support research activities.
- Commitment to animal welfare and regulatory compliance.
- Attention to detail and good reporting and communication skills.
