Job title: Animal Caretaker
About the Role The Animal Caretaker role supports the Psychological and Brain Sciences department’s animal research program. You will assist with daily care, husbandry, health monitoring, and environmental support for laboratory animals as part of a small animal care team, coordinating with a second caretaker to cover the colonies in Tolentine Hall. This is a part-time, student position that requires daily attention, including weekends and academic breaks, during Summer 2026.
What You'll Do
- Manage and implement research protocols related to husbandry, health monitoring, and environmental support of laboratory animals.
- Coordinate duties with another animal caretaker to cover daily care for animal colonies, including weekends, academic breaks, and holidays.
- Assist with routine health checks and environmental maintenance in Tolentine Hall.
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled Villanova student; work-study preferred but open to all students.
- Availability of 12-15 hours per week during Summer 2026.
- Willingness to work daily with animals, including weekends and holidays; reliable and responsible.
- Interest in laboratory animal care and ability to follow established protocols; good communication and teamwork.
Nice to Have
- Work-study eligibility is a plus.
- Prior on-campus work experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage rate: $10.00 per hour.
