About this role

Analyst, SOX Compliance

Role Overview: The Analyst, SOX Compliance (Business Controls) strengthens Genesys' global Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program by evaluating business processes, assessing financial reporting risks, and helping ensure controls are designed and operating effectively. The role owns assigned SOX activities across the control lifecycle, partnering with Finance, IT, operational teams, process owners, and external auditors to deliver rigorous testing, clear conclusions, and timely remediation. It provides hands-on exposure to business process controls, IT-dependent and manual application controls (ITACs), risk assessment, and cross-functional audit activities across a global organization. At Genesys, our focus on empathy, collaboration, and innovation shapes how teams work together to create better experiences for customers and employees. This role offers a clear opportunity to deepen SOX expertise, gain visibility across enterprise processes, and grow into broader responsibilities within the compliance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive SOX planning, scoping, and risk assessment activities for assigned business processes in coordination with process owners and external auditors

  • Lead end-to-end business process walkthroughs to assess control design, identify risks, and determine whether controls appropriately address financial reporting objectives

  • Execute testing of business process controls, including relevant IT-dependent and manual application controls (ITACs), to provide well-supported conclusions on operating effectiveness

  • Identify control gaps and deficiencies, evaluate their severity and potential impact, and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders

  • Develop clear, accurate, and audit-ready documentation of testing procedures, evidence, findings, and conclusions to support an efficient SOX program

  • Drive timely remediation by coordinating with control owners, tracking corrective actions, and evaluating whether identified deficiencies have been effectively resolved

  • Improve the effectiveness and scalability of the SOX program by identifying opportunities to strengthen risk coverage, documentation quality, and testing efficiency

  • Build trusted partnerships across Finance, IT, operational teams, and external audit while managing competing priorities across global time zones and audit timelines

  • Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in SOX compliance or Internal Audit, with direct experience evaluating and testing business process controls

  • Demonstrated experience performing business process walkthroughs, control design assessments, operating effectiveness testing, and control gap analysis

  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, internal controls, audit evidence, deficiency evaluation, and SOX documentation requirements

  • Demonstrated professional judgment, critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and root cause evaluation capabilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain control concepts and findings clearly to non-specialist stakeholders

  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet audit timelines, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency with AI tools and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the flexibility to collaborate periodically across global time zones, including with U.S.-based stakeholders and external auditors

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • CA, CIA, or CPA qualification

  • Exposure to IT General Controls (ITGCs), with an understanding of how ITGCs support business process controls and financial reporting

  • Experience collaborating with external auditors and cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, IT, and operational functions

  • Experience contributing to SOX program improvements, remediation activities, or control optimization initiatives

  • Experience testing IT-dependent or manual application controls (ITACs) within business processes
