Who We Are & What We Do

At Helix, our mission is simple: to help everyone improve their lives through their DNA.

Ready to make a real-world impact with your skills? At Helix, we're transforming healthcare by making genomics a standard of care. We partner with health systems and life science companies to accelerate the integration of genomic data into clinical practice. Join us in building a future where healthcare is personalized, proactive, and powered by genomics.

What is special about this role?

As a Senior FP&A Analyst at Helix, you'll own operating expense planning, reporting, and forecasting for the Finance team.

Your work will shape strategic decisions and optimize how we spend across the company.

Beyond traditional FP&A, you'll design and support the systems behind our numbers, including NetSuite, our procurement platform, and our CRM.

AI is now core to how our Finance team works, not an add-on. We're looking for someone who already treats it as a real part of their toolkit and wants to grow further against Helix's Finance AI Fluency framework.

You'll thrive in our fast-paced startup environment, where autonomy and ambition directly shape our mission.

As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you will:

  • Financial Modeling & Forecasting:
  • Own the operating expense planning, reporting, and forecasting process, working closely with budget owners across the organization.
  • Own comprehensive budget and forecast models, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to set and achieve financial targets.
  • Support the monthly closing process, including actual-to-budget bridge analysis and specific deep dives of other key accounts.
  • Use AI to produce first-draft variance commentary and bridge analysis, grounded in our specific GL data and accounting policies.
  • Communicate financial results and actionable insights to budget owners and leadership, driving informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with our finance and accounting policies, and understand legal and GAAP business requirements.
  • System Architecture & Data Management:
  • Design and support our core business systems, including NetSuite (ERP), our procurement system (Ramp), and our CRM system (Hubspot), ensuring seamless operation and data flow.
  • Partner with key stakeholders throughout the organization to maintain and improve data integrity across all systems, ensuring accuracy of actuals and forecasts for both financial and operational reporting.
  • Develop scalable processes and procedures within these systems to support Helix's fast-growing business lines.
  • Reporting & Insights:
  • Create, maintain, and enhance reporting decks and dashboards, including those for Board-level and investor presentations.
  • Transform complex data into clear, concise, and actionable insights, effectively telling the story behind the numbers.
  • Build and maintain reusable AI workflows and skills for recurring reporting tasks, so good practices scale across the team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with stakeholders across several departments to inform strategic decision-making and drive company growth.
  • Work effectively as part of cross-geographic, cross-organizational, and cross-cultural teams.

About you:

  • Experience: Typically 5+ years of relevant financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Systems Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing, designing, and troubleshooting key financial and operational systems like NetSuite (ERP), procurement platforms (Ramp), and CRM systems (Hubspot), ideally with prior admin-level access and responsibility.
  • AI Fluency: You audit AI-generated numbers and narrative against the source ledger before they reach a budget owner or leadership, and you know not to put non-public financial data or PII into a public AI tool.
  • Analytical Prowess: Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to work with large, complex data sets, analyze operational data, and develop scalable solutions for financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Collaborative & Problem-Solver: You are inherently operational, thrive in cross-functional and collaborative environments, and enjoy identifying real solutions to key business problems with limited direction and unlimited ambition.
  • Communication

Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to turn complex financial data into a clear, insight-driven story for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Technical

Skills

  • Mastery of Excel and Google Suite applications.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative business-related field required.
  • Adaptability: Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment is highly valued.

Pluses:

  • Experience in investment banking, consulting (with significant finance exposure), or within a healthcare/life sciences (pharma, biotech, medtech/diagnostics) or high-growth tech company
  • MBA
