About this role
Reports to: The Associate leading each client you work on.
Contract type: Full-time. Location: Abuja (hybrid). Open only to people who already live in or around Abuja
The role:
As an Analyst, you keep the books for several of our clients at the same time, often in different sectors. The accuracy of your work is what every
report CA gives those clients is built on, and an Associate reviews each piece before it goes any further. The work runs to firm monthly deadlines across several clients at once, and month-end is demanding. We are looking for someone who has chosen accounting and finance as their career, takes pride in getting the numbers right, and wants to grow into leading client work.
What you will do
-
Keep each client's books up to date: record every sale, purchase and payment in the right account, the right period and at the right amount, from the client's source documents.
-
Reconcile bank and cash: agree each bank and cash account to its statement, find and resolve the differences, and raise anything you cannot resolve rather than forcing it to balance.
-
Process payroll and prepare tax filings: prepare the payroll with tax, pension, and NHF deducted, prepare the monthly PAYE, VAT, and withholding tax returns, and prepare the payroll payment file for the client to approve. You never initiate, approve, or release a payment.
-
Prepare schedules for the month-end: prepare the schedules and data the Associate needs to close the month and build the client's reports.
-
Hand over work that is ready to review: follow CA's standards, keep the evidence behind every figure, and list anything still open, so the Associate can review your work without having to rebuild it.
-
Keep several clients on schedule: you keep the books for several clients at once, so you plan your month across all of them and flag early if a deadline is at risk.
Where this leads:
As your work meets the standard, you take on more responsibility, including leading client work yourself. At CA, you move up by showing you can do the next step's work, not by time served.
