About this role
About the Role The seasonal part-time Hair Salon Stylist works inside the American Girl NYC store's Girls Hair Salon. You will provide salon services to girls and dolls, create a premium experience, and maintain sanitation standards in a fast-paced children’s retail environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide salon services to girls (and dolls) to ensure a high‑quality premium experience at American Girl
- Create a positive, friendly, engaging, and professional atmosphere that generates smiles and lasting memories
- Perform ear piercing services for dolls and girls
- Offer a broad range of hair styles and work with various hair lengths and textures; proficient in colorful manicures
- Maintain complete knowledge of all salon services and products
- Uphold sanitation and sterilization standards as directed by law and salon policies
- Answer questions, provide general customer assistance, and resolve customer concerns
- Maintain weekend availability and flexibility to support a fast-paced environment
What We're Looking For
- Current unexpired New York State Cosmetology license
- Ability and experience to style hair in various styles and perform nail services
- Ability to engage with children and adult customers while doing hair or nails
- High energy with experience in a fast-paced service environment and a passion for quality service
- Experience working with children is desirable
- Ability to work as a team-player in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as evenings and some holidays
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate between $20.00-$24.00 USD
