About this role
Provide leadership to ambulatory services staff and ensure that high-quality, safe and compassionate care is provided for surgical patients throughout the course of care with Mercy Ships. The Ambulatory Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of the department which includes Outpatients, Rehab, Dietician, Wound Care and the Low Care Unit. Works with hospital leadership and multidisciplinary teams to support evidence-based care across multiple specialties, including Maxillofacial, Reconstructive Plastic, General, Ophthalmic, Women’s Health and Orthopedic surgery.
What you will contribute
Provide professional support and leadership to Ambulatory Services staff, encouraging healthy team dynamics, morale and relationships
Provide spiritual leadership of the team; facilitate devotional times and establish a healthy spiritual atmosphere, allowing spiritual growth of the team
Develop, implement, and maintain an organizational structure that is compliant with regulatory standards and provide safe, effective and efficient care to patients
Maintain a visible presence in clinical areas, when possible, to enable connection with staff and patients and support real time problem solving
Oversee the daily activities of the Low Care Unit, Wound Care, Dietician, Outpatients and Rehab teams
In coordination with other Hospital Managers, ensure effective patient flow management within the hospital
Collaborate with Hospital staff and external departments regarding health/safety of crew and patients; participate in the development or revision of Hospital procedures/protocols and ensure accountability of all staff to comply with relevant policies and procedures
Oversee the planning of Ambulatory Services Staff participation in Mercy Ships training programs, supporting the goal of hospital crew being educators/preceptors for local healthcare providers and students
Maintain regular meetings with Team Leaders to develop unity within the department, and disseminate communication among the team
Facilitate effective orientation and training for crew and day crew within the teams
Partner with Resource Managers and Staffing Teams to ensure adequate staffing for the departments, giving input to staffing formations and staffing plans
Address staff issues, i.e. adherence to ship policies, interpersonal conflicts or professional performance issues
Complete performance evaluations on Team Leaders, providing constructive feedback and encouragement of staff
Maintain oversight of the ordering of medical or pharmaceutical supplies, as well as new equipment, in collaboration with appropriate on and off ship departments
Participate in HRB (Hospital Review Board)/ PRB (Patient Review Board) for specified patients
Oversee data collection and analysis of the Ambulatory areas for improved patient flow management in the Hospital
Partner with the Hospital Quality department to develop patient safety and quality improvement initiatives within the Ambulatory areas
Attend and participate in hospital meetings, hospital receptions, devotions, and other functions; other duties as assigned

Mercy Ships Alumni required
Leadership/management experience preferred
Registered Nurse or Allied Healthcare Professional with active license in home country
Minimum five years of clinical experience following licensure
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with theory test and hands-on skills assessment required
Commitments of 12 months or more require successful completion of OnBoarding program
