About this role
Job title: Alternance - Modélisation numérique (F/H)
About the Role
Within Michelin's Advanced Research department, you will contribute to the development of numerical simulation methods for composite materials, applied to tires and other business areas. The project focuses on finite element modeling of composites using a multi-scale approach, essential for representing structures whose overall size is more than 1,000 times larger than the constituents, requiring specialized simulation methods. You will join a team of experts and participate in a high-value research project combining development, validation and industrialization of digital tools.
What You'll Do
- Test a prototype tool developed in a finite element code to validate its behavior on representative applications.
- Define a simulation methodology by running different calculation plans to determine the validity domain; establish best practices including: model preparation (geometry, meshing); material constitutive laws; calculations and result analysis.
- Robustify the solution to be easily usable by more users, including packaging and improving the tool.
What We're Looking For
- You are pursuing an engineering degree with a specialization in mechanics, numerical simulation, scientific computing or equivalent.
- You value teamwork and show rigor, curiosity and analytical mindset.
- Knowledge of Python is a real asset. Training may be offered during the internship to support skill development.
Nice to Have
- Experience with finite element software is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Housing search assistance and coverage of housing costs if the school and workplace are more than 50 km apart; travel cost reimbursement under conditions; indemnity for double rent when applicable.
- A collaborative environment with learning and innovation, personalized guidance throughout the apprenticeship. You are trained on data up to October 2023.
